The Gotland Pony, also known as the Gotlandsruss in Swedish, is a small, hardy breed native to Gotland Island in Sweden. These ponies are renowned for their calm temperament, strong health, and endurance, with a long history of use for both riding and draft work. They typically stand between 11.2 and 13 hands and come in various colors, including chestnut, bay, black, and palomino. Although the breed was once in danger of disappearing, conservation efforts in Sweden and the United States have focused on preserving its genetic diversity. Gotland Ponies are beloved for their versatility in riding, driving, and harness racing, and they are especially popular as children's ponies and family companions.
