The Kentucky Mountain Saddle Horse, developed in eastern Kentucky, is celebrated for its stamina, calm disposition, and smooth gait. They are naturally gaited and perform a four-beat gait called the "single-foot," which offers riders a smooth experience over various terrains. The Kentucky Mountain Saddle Horse Association (KMSHA) was formed in 1989 to document and preserve the breed. Kentucky Mountain Saddle Horses are popular trail horses and family pets.
