The Missouri Fox Trotter is a uniquely American breed that emerged during the 19th century amid the westward expansion. Known for their distinctive smooth gait, the breed features three standard gaits, including the unique "fox trot," where the horse walks with its front feet while trotting with its hind feet, providing a comfortable ride over long distances.
