The Slovenian Coldblood (Slovenski hladnokrvni konj) is Slovenia’s most numerous native horse breed, developed over the past 80 years from local cold-blooded stock and officially named in 1964. This medium-sized, sturdy, and good-natured horse is valued for its strength, endurance, and calm temperament. Used for farm work, forestry, carriage driving, and leisure riding, it stands between 146–160 cm and comes in various colors. With around 3,500 horses today, the breed remains an essential part of Slovenia’s rural traditions and cultural heritage.
